Mary Gwen Sagen, CPNP-PC, is a Board Certified Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Mary Gwen graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Nursing and has worked as a nurse with several pediatric clinics in Dallas and New York City. Specializing in pediatric primary care, Mary Gwen completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University.
Upon graduating from nursing school, Mary Gwen moved to New York to attend The Natural Gourmet Institute, a health-supportive culinary school. After receiving her culinary certificate and working in several notable restaurants in Manhattan, Mary Gwen returned to a career in nursing with a deeper knowledge of the positive effects of diet on health. With a special interest in childhood obesity, Mary Gwen is passionate about incorporating her culinary knowledge and skills into daily practice. She believes in a holistic approach to health and wellness, including a child’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Joining Tennessee Pediatrics in January of 2018, Mary Gwen is excited to have the opportunity to build relationships with both patients and families within the practice. With a most conscientious spirit that traces back to her youth, she aims to provide excellent, evidence-based care, support, and counsel to the families she serves.
Residing in Nashville with her husband, Scott, and their two young children, Mary Gwen enjoys cooking, running, exploring new restaurants, traveling and playing outside with her kids. She attends West End Community Church and is interested in medical missions, having spent a summer at The African Bible College Community Clinic in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Mary Gwen is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
